How Site Coordinators Help
Helping In and Out of the Classroom
Where We AreNevada students need more than just academic support to succeed in life and school, and Communities In Schools site coordinators take the time to understand the specific needs and unique challenges of each student they interact with. Maybe the student is struggling with homework. Or perhaps they need an empathetic ear when things aren’t so great at home. Working in conjunction with community partners and school staff, CIS site coordinators ensure students’ material and emotional needs are met on a daily basis.

How Do CIS Site Coordinators Work With Students?
By bringing the community into the school, our CIS site coordinators mobilize resources and leverage community partnerships to focus on meeting the needs of the whole child, while encouraging them to stick with school to the point of graduation and beyond.
Why? Because we believe transformative relationships are key to unlocking an individual student’s potential. Our site coordinators provide not only material items and academic help, but also basic life skills and social-emotional support. It’s a long-term relationship that helps students build a lasting network of trust around them that will stay with them long after they’ve successfully graduated.
Put simply, we build a community for life. We build a network of trust. We build for the future.
I used to be so shy until I met Ms. C. We talked about why I was shy and how I could be better at making friends. And I’ve made a lot of friends. It makes me feel awesome.
