Celebrating Record Outcomes for the 2023-24 School Year

Impact Report hero image

The 2023-2024 school year was a defining period for our organization. We expanded our reach, strengthened partnerships, and achieved remarkable outcomes for students statewide.

We’re proud to share our newest Impact Report, which tells a story of our achievements in the Clark, Elko, Humboldt, and Washoe County school districts.

Unprecedented Growth and Impact

The 2023-2024 school year marked our largest year of growth in CIS of Nevada’s 20-year history, including:

  • Over $3 million in essential items were distributed to students and families.
  • 99,999 students were supported statewide
  • 16 schools were added
  • We deepened support on 9 existing campuses
  • 7,031 students were case-manged

We are addressing the fundamental barriers to student success thanks to CIS partners and donors. Essential items distributed to students and families include clothing, food, hygiene products, transportation support, school supplies, vision, and dental care.

Record Graduation Rate

The 647 case-manged students of our graduating class of 2024 helped us reach a monumental 97% graduation rate, the highest ever for our organization since we began serving Nevada students in 2004.

Over the past three years, we’ve achieved a remarkable 5 percent graduation rate increase.

Significant Improvements in Key Areas

Our CIS schools achieved remarkable progress in several crucial areas during the 2023-2024 school year. The following schoolwide goals include:

  • 91% progress in attendance (up from 58% the previous year)
  • 94% improvement in behavior (up from 65%)
  • 60% improvement in coursework (up from 55%)

Addressing Chronic Absenteeism

As we actively combat chronic absenteeism, our national public service announcement campaign, “Being Present Matters,” shows the importance of having CIS in schools.

Evidence-Based Model

Success is built on our CIS evidence-based model, which places full-time Site Coordinators in high-needs schools. These coordinators support students identified as vulnerable to dropping out, providing essential services through a network of over 120 agencies and nonprofit partners statewide.

As our organization celebrates these significant achievements, we remain committed to our mission of keeping students in school and helping them achieve in life. Our dedication to addressing complex challenges and providing comprehensive support continues to make a lasting impact on Nevada’s students and communities.
