Celebrating 20 Years of Impact

Celebrating 20 Years of Transforming Lives
As Communities In Schools of Nevada (CIS) marks 20 years of empowering students to stay in school and achieve in life, we’re reminded of what’s possible when we show up, listen, and believe in a young person’s potential. For two decades, CIS has been a constant presence, providing critical resources, mentorship, and hope for students who needed someone in their corner.

Be Part of the Next 20 Years
The impact of CIS is clear: students who feel seen, supported, and believed in go on to achieve incredible things. As we look to the future, we invite you to join us in continuing this legacy of empowerment. Whether through volunteering, donating, joining our All In For Kids Giving Club, or simply spreading the word, you can ensure every Nevada student has the support they need to thrive.

In celebration of 20 years of impact, CIS proudly shares a video highlighting the life-changing relationships between former students and their CIS site coordinators. These heartfelt conversations remind us of the profound difference made when a caring adult shows up, listens, and believes in a young person’s potential.

“You Gave Me Hope”
For Dominic, CIS was a lifeline during a time of uncertainty. “I always had someone to talk to,” he shares. The support of his CIS Site Coordinator, Rocio, gave him a sense of community and helped him establish goals for his future. Javier echoes this, reflecting on the critical assistance his family received: “You [CIS Site Coordinator, Rocio] helped us pay for food and rent… It gave me a place to live, and I really cherish that.”

Dreaming Big and Achieving More
The stories shared are filled with hope, resilience, and ambition. Mary, who once juggled two jobs and cared for her younger brother while dealing with a sick parent during high school, is now the proud owner of her own construction company. “I couldn’t have imagined this 10 years ago,” she says.

For Javier, the dream of becoming a pilot is coming to life. After participating in an aviation magnet program, he’s now pursuing his pilot license at College of Southern Nevada and hopes to enter commercial aviation. Meanwhile, Jay Jay is following her passion by attending barber school, determined to earn her license by the end of the year.

“You Are My Reason Why”
These conversations reveal not just the impact CIS has had on students but also the deep bond that exists between them and their site coordinators. Jaiden reflects on how her site coordinator’s story mirrored her own, saying, “If he could do it, I could do it.” Jenaya, a site coordinator, shares how proud she is of her students’ growth: “You are my reason why.”

It’s a sentiment echoed time and time again. For Mary, CIS was more than just a support system—it was lifesaving. “You saved my life. I don’t know where I’d be without you.”

Here’s to 20 years of transforming lives together!
